During the moments when you feel like you are going to lose your cool, take a deep breath, and then take “10”(minutes) and remove yourself from a potentially damaging reaction to a child. Think first, “what basic self-care need have I overlooked? (A shower, a meal, adequate sleep). Try to fulfill that need BEFORE you respond to your child.
